The Terry Freeman Memorial Match 2009

The fishing was great too – no blanks, even from the less experienced fishers – who only ever fish on this day each year and this match is attended by people who travelled from all over the country and who do not get the opportunity to practice.

36hr Match on Orchid Lake

Our First 36hr Match on Orchid Lake was a huge success – so much so they want another one!

Fished from 9.00pm Friday evening to 9.00am  Sunday Morning. Breakfast and dinner served up to the anglers at their pegs on Saturday and a relaxing breakfast in the Café on Sunday morning, interspersed with cups of tea at frequent intervals – all very civilised!

The winner was Leigh McKinney of Luton who had  212lb 13oz carp and roach and mixed fish caught using varying methods, one fish broke his pole in 2 places, pole and ledger,,pellet and boilies.

Second was Linda Billington of Bedford with 169lb 4oz  carp and roach also using pole and ledger – mixed tactics over the period of time – she says she didn’t sleep – a little bit of cat napping on her box and woke up when she started talking to herself!

Third was Bernie Simpson of Luton who had a very good catch of carp to all sizes for 105lb 9oz.

All this despite the torrential rain on Saturday night.

12 hour Fun Match & BBQ Tingrith Fishery

We had a very busy day on Saturday running, for the first time, a 12 hour match on our Fringe Lake.

With a weigh-in every 4 hours it kept us occupied all day running round!

Interestingly the second weights weren’t affected a great deal by the emptying of the nets after the first 4 hours.  The last 4 hours saw a change in the carp coming on in the evening session.

The winning weight was caught by Linda Billington of Bedford on peg 19 with a tremendous 181lb 12oz approx. 80lb of which were crucians and silver fish with the rest carp, all caught on a pole using pellet and paste at 14 mts

Runner up was Ricky Stone of Finchley, North London, with 130lb 5oz of roach, ruddy & crucians up in the water.

A close third was to Pip Bolam, also of Bedford with 103.12 oz in peg 8 and the 4th place went to Vic Jackson with 103lb exactly!

The 12 gruelling hours were followed by a very welcome BBQ and refreshments.
